‘We were wrongly accused of being a sham marriage’
A couple have told Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Radio 5 Live that they were wrongly accused of entering a sham marriage.
Jeff and Julie Rose won a two-year battle with the Home Office trying to prove their relationship was genuine.
Julie, who was born in the north west of England, met Jeff in Canada, where he was born. They lived there for several years before moving to the UK.
Jeff came to the UK on an ancestry visa in 2011 but his application to renew his visa in 2016 was rejected and he was threatened with forcible removal from the UK.
Speaking to Emma Barnett, Julie explained the impact it had on the couple.
A Home Office spokesperson said: “All immigration applications are considered on their individual merits and on the basis of the evidence available, in line with the immigration rules.â€
