Mineral suncream vs chemical suncream

Lots of companies have been launching mineral suncream products this year, in part, because of claims that they're better for the environment. In 2018, the state of Hawaii passed a new law banning the sale and use of certain suncreams thought to be harmful to coral reefs. That ban will apply from 2021. In the meantime, Key West in Florida, which has coral reefs, and the Pacific Island of Palau have introduced similar bans. They're worried about two ingredients that are found in some chemical suncreams - oxybenzone and ocrinoxate. It's led to an increase in mineral suncream products on the market, which don't contain those chemicals. Beatrice Pickup talks to Sali Hughes, the Guardian's Beauty Columnist, to find out more.
