What your hands can tell you about yourself
Our hands are the part of the body that does, that makes, but it is also a part of us that helps us communicate through gesture, signs and writing and the part of us with the most sophisticated sense of touch. Psychotherapist Philippa Perry explores what our hands tell us – through the touch, but also through the calluses and musculature they have taken on through their work. She explores the idea of how we as humans interact with and impact upon those things around us, and how they also impact upon us. Speaking to poet Justina Kehinde and violinist Min Kym, she tries to understand the physicality of their work and how they connect the mental with the physical. What can our hands tell us about our world and about ourselves?
