'We've destroyed the chalk rivers, all for the quest for drinking water'

There is a little piece of England that is dying. And it needs some love and attention. It is the almost globally unique eco-system of chalk rivers. These are different to ordinary rivers - they're fed by water stored in chalk aquifers. They have a special place in nature - and they are suffering because of us.

PM presenter Evan Davis joined the former pop legend Feargal Sharkey, who is now Chairman of the Amwell Magna Fisherie, on a walk to a dried up chalk river, to talk about their destruction.

The Environment Agency told PM that they are working with water companies to make they have active campaigns to promote the message of careful water management as "we all do need to think about the pressures we're putting on the environment"
