The legacy of Paul Volcker
Jamie Robertson dedicates part of the programme to Paul Volcker, the former head of the US central bank known for fighting inflation who has died at the age of 92. Appointed chair of the Federal Reserve in 1979, Mr Volcker dramatically raised interest rates to combat inflation. Washington based Alexis Goldstein, financial reform advocate speaks of her memories of meeting him and Robin Harding, Tokyo bureau chief for the Financial Times tells us Mr Volcker's role in economic history.
