The death of Dr James Mehaffey
Tributes are being paid to the former Church of Ireland Bishop of Derry and Raphoe, Dr James Mehaffey, who has died at the age of 88. He passed away surrounded by his family. Dr Mehaffey led the Diocese of Derry and Raphoe for more than 20 years, from his consecration in 1980 until his retirement in 2002. Gerry Bradley looks back on the life and legacy of the Church of Ireland leader who worked shoulder to shoulder with his Catholic counterpart Bishop, Edward Daly, to promote peace and bring a divided city together.
