Children living on small islands across the world have difficulties getting to school. Indonesia is made up of over 17,500 islands, many of which are extremely isolated and impoverished with no electricity. Because it is so difficult to get to the mainland, children living on the more remote islands don't continue to secondary school. Instead, they start working as fishermen from an early age. That's why Rahmat HM decided to set up a "floating school" - a boat that delivers books, resources and teachers who educate nearly 200 children on five islands. He told Newsday he hopes to open up other opportunities for these children, while also respecting the cultural traditions of their island.
