Schlagende Herzen (or Beating Heart) is the second of Richard Strauss' 3 songs, published in 1895, with lyrics from the German poet Otto Julius Bierbaum. The 'Kling-klang' sung by the soprano and echoed by the piano is the sound of a boy's heart-beat as he hurries happily to meet his love.
