Coronavirus: Did India's lockdown happen too late?

India's 1.3 billion people went into a strict lockdown on March 24. It was initially praised for keeping coronavirus case numbers low, but now the number of people who've been infected is over three million.

So should the lockdown have happened earlier? The 麻豆官网首页入口's Ritula Shah has been speaking to Jay Panda, National Vice President and spokesperson for India's governing BJP party, who argues the government has achieved much in its management of the pandemic, and Dr Indrajit Roy, a senior lecturer in politics at the University of York, who says political indifference has generated a crisis and that the government was distracted with a visit by President Trump when it should have been occupied with managing the virus outbreak.
