Ethiopia's Tigray crisis: Are the TPLF still fighting after capital's capture?
The leader of the Tigray People's Liberation Front has just told the Reuters news agency his forces are still fighting close to the regional capital of Mekelle. The city was captured by federal troops over the weekend, a major moment in the weeks-long conflict in Tigray.
Debretsion Gebremichael also said his troops had captured Eritrean soldiers fighting on the side of the Ethiopian army - a claim the Ethiopian government has denied. Earlier, Zadrig Abraha, Minister of Democratisation in Ethiopia, explained what he made of claims of military success by the regional TPLF leader and the Ethiopian government will respond to the crisis .
