Uighur rights activist's fears for family

Uyghur rights activist Jewher Ilham says she is concerned for the safety of her family in China.

She told Hardtalk's Stephen Sackur: "One of my most frequent nightmares is that my speaking out would affect my family in a very negative way which would make them suffer even worse than now."

Her father has been imprisoned for seven years. China is facing mounting criticism from around the world over its treatment of the mostly Muslim Uighur population in the north-western region of Xinjiang.
