Republicans in US state capitols are attempting to pass laws curtailing when and where people can vote - citing allegations of voting fraud as a reason to change current systems.

Critics say this will restrict voting especially for African Americans and other ethnic minority communities. As this is happening, Democrats are pushing legislation to take those decisions out of the hands of state politicians by setting federal rules for conducting elections.

LaTosha Brown, co-founder of Black Voters Matter – an organisation aimed at increasing black voter engagement - explains how changes to the current laws and voting sites will affect many people's ability to vote and the steps they are taking to combat these.
