In April 2021, Juruna the jaguar and her two cubs were released in the Iber谩 Wetlands in Corrientes, Argentina, as part of rewilding efforts lead by Kris Tompkins, president and co-founder of Tompkins Conservation. The jaguar has long been a symbol of strength in Guaran铆 heritage, and Kris and her team worked with local and national authorities to bring the animals back to the region. Juruna was orphaned by poachers in Brazil and was later brought up in the world鈥檚 first Jaguar Reproduction Center, where she gave birth to two cubs. Tompkins Conservation鈥檚 strategic partner, Rewilding Argentina, carry out the rewilding.
