脴yvind Torvund - Untitled School

脴yvind Torvund's Untitled School brings together an array of sounds from instruments, homemade apparatus, household objects, and samples.

脴yvind Torvund's Untitled School deftly brings together the sounds of standard instruments (pianos, guitar, a large cymbal), non-standard ones (whistles, ocarina, harmonicas), homemade apparatus, household objects (a milk steamer and a plastic bottle) and samples.

The first section, 鈥淪cales,鈥 made of upward arpeggios that are all similar but not identical, interspersed with other material including twinkling broken chords and downward scales, as promised.

鈥淭extures鈥 is made of staccato notes on the pianos in the shadow of sampled sounds, and again there is similarity but difference all through.

鈥淐hords鈥 has features from both predecessors, along with, indeed, crashing chords and passages of rapid iteration.

鈥淚mitations鈥 pays homage in turn to Rimsky Korsakov鈥檚 Scheherazad, Liszt鈥檚 Faust Symphony, Strauss鈥檚 Don Quixote, Ravel鈥檚 Ma M猫re l鈥檕ye and Scriabin鈥檚 Po猫me d鈥檈xtase.

鈥淛ungles鈥 has appropriate noises both recorded and simulated, along with a chord sequence on guitar and other additions.
