Kelly Cates looks back on the stories making the headlines on Day eight of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

Kelly Cates looks back on the stories making the headlines on Day eight of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, as Dina Asher Smith鈥檚 quest for 100 metre glory ended in heartbreak after she failed to qualify for the final. The Brit also pulled out of the 200 metres citing an injury she鈥檇 been carrying.

The 100 metres ended in thrilling fashion with Elaine Thompson-Herah becoming the second-fastest woman in history as she beat fellow Jamaican Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce to defend her Olympic 100m title. Shericka Jackson completed a Jamaican one-two-three by taking the bronze medal. Great Britain's Daryll Neita finished eighth.
Elsewhere, there was gold medal success for Team GB in the mixed medley events in both the swimming and triathlon, whilst in windsurfing, Emma Wilson claimed bronze and in boxing, lightweight Karriss Artingstall also took bronze.
