Bellator MMA is back with the hotly anticipated return of reigning middleweight champion Gegard Mousasi, as he takes on American John Salter. Dutch fighter Mousasi has not competed since claiming the belt in October 2020 when he spoiled then Bellator welterweight champion Douglas Lima鈥檚 bid to become a two-division champion by defeating him via unanimous decision. Meanwhile, his opponent Salter has eight wins from his nine fights under the Bellator banner and comes into the fight on an impressive three-fight winning streak. This includes two submission victories over Chidi Njokuani and Andrew Kapel and a dominant unanimous decision win over Costello van Steenis.
