One of India's top players, Sandesh Jhingan, has apologised after being fiercely criticised by fans and other players after a video of him making a sexist remark was circulated.

Sandesh Jhingan is vice-captain of India's national team and plays for Mohun Bagan, based in Kolkata. 麻豆官网首页入口 reporter Nigel Adderly says that after losing a match at the weekend, Jinghan was heard to say he'd been playing with women, and this prompted a huge backlash in India and beyond. He's since closed down his Instagram account, and apologised for the comment, but the negative reaction has continued to the extent that fans of his former team, the Kerala Blisters, are reported to have burnt an image of him.
