Yew
Yew, written and directed by James Davis, is a Welsh experimental film about loss and memory. Through a series of poetic visuals, a young boy reflects on the memory of his grandmother and her unique relationship to an ancient yew tree that lies behind their estate.
Scared that he will soon forget his grandmother, he begins to delve into his strongest memories of her and, subsequently, takes us on a journey that blurs the line between reality and the metaphysical. It is a sensitive look at the effects of grief and how it ties to the timelessness and mystique of the Welsh landscape.
