Celso Amorim: Brazil will attract a lot of investment

The president鈥檚 foreign policy adviser on how the country will bring inward investment.

Brazil will attract inward investment as it did in the boom era of the 2000s, the foreign policy adviser to the country鈥檚 president Luiz In谩cio Lula da Silva has told 麻豆官网首页入口 News.

Asked by the 麻豆官网首页入口 Hardtalk programme鈥檚 Stephen Sackur if the current conditions made it difficult for President Lula to repeat the economic agenda of his previous terms in office, Celso Amorim said doubters wrongly predicted 鈥渆verything would burst鈥 last time.

鈥淏razil with its policy on environment, especially climate change and its policy against hunger鈥 and with its attack on inequality will be a place that will attract a lot of investment, as it did before,鈥 Mr Amorim said.

Lula won a third presidential term after a bitterly contested election against the controversial incumbent Jair Bolsonaro in October 2022.

Brazil remains deeply divided. Last month, thousands of Bolsonaro supporters attacked federal buildings in Bras铆lia. Mr Bolsonaro has denied any involvement in or responsibility for the actions of his supporters.
