German MP: 鈥淚 see no possibility of talking to Putin鈥�
Marie-Agnes Strack Zimmermann, who chairs the German parliament鈥檚 influential Defence Committee said that she could see 鈥渘o possibility鈥� of talking to Vladimir Putin to end the war in Ukraine.
Asked whether she supports proposals to further limit G7 countries鈥� trade with Russia she said 鈥淵es. Absolutely. We have to do it鈥� It鈥檚 a very simple situation. Vladimir Putin hopes that we are not ready for doing this and we have to do it. Even with the economic question 鈥� and it鈥檚 a huge one.鈥�
Referring to German Chancellor Olaf Scholz鈥檚 use of the word 鈥榋eitenwende鈥� to describe a historic shift in German foreign policy brought about the Ukraine invasion, Ms Strack-Zimmermann said 鈥淵ou have to realise that this zeitenwende, it鈥檚 a real zeitenwende so we have to change our mind and we have to think about with companies, with CEOs - now we have to do something.鈥�
