‘They forget all about us’: Socceroos coach Graham Arnold calls for more support
Socceroos head coach on what’s got to change, Ange Postecoglou and the impact of family
Australia men’s head coach Graham Arnold says the country’s leaders “don’t want to listen” on ways to progress football in Australia, despite the success of the country’s national football teams.
The Matildas’ finished fourth – their highest-ever World Cup finish – at the 2023 Women’s World Cup, co-hosted in Australia, nine months after The Socceroos reached the last-16 for only the second time in the history of the Men’s World Cup.
Arnold tells Sportsworld’s Mani Djazmi why he doesn’t think the teams’ successes will lead to change in Australia despite the “hope” of the nation.
The Socceroos coach also reveals why he’s “not surprised” by the start fellow Australian Ange Postecoglou has made as Tottenham Hotspur manager, and also talks about the impact of family.
