Introducing Swish: A mix of table tennis and air hockey

Ever heard of the sport swish? It’s a modified version of table tennis developed by visually impaired athletes in Australia.

Often described as a mix between table tennis and air hockey, players hit the cricket-sized ball under a solid screen using a rectangular bat with the aim of getting the ball past their opponent at the other end of the table.

It’s known for its inclusivity and the fact players – whether they are blind, vision impaired or have full sight – compete on almost equal terms.

Sportshour’s Shabnam Younus-Jewell speaks to Jenni Forbes from Frankston Swish Club in Australia to find out more.
