Monty Don: 'The rhythm of the natural world puts our lives into perspective'
Monty Don says there is "no hierarchy" when it comes to how gardening can boost mental health.
The Gardener's World presenter told 5 Live's Colin Murray that "investing hope and trust in the future of a plant", no matter what kind, can help people who are struggling.
"Human life is a mess," Monty said. "what this rhythm of the natural world does, it puts it in perspective."
Getting outside and witnessing the changing of the seasons can provide a sense of hope, Monty explained.
"Spring will come. Summer will come. The flowers will grow."
