Basildon spy cameras reduce litter
Cameras are helping to reduce litter across Basildon, with more than 70 fines issued since they were introduced across the borough. Stuart Terson is the Conservative Councillor for Pitsea North-West and says CCTV is something residents have been asking for to prevent fly-tipping.
In a statement, a Basildon Council spokesperson said “Basildon Council takes every incident of fly-tipping very seriously. We investigate every report received and take the necessary enforcement action to keep the area residents live in, a place to be proud of. Basildon Council deploy a number of tools to catch fly-tippers, including CCTV, patrols and joint operations with law enforcement. Whilst the vast majority of people do the right thing with their waste, it’s important that all householders ensure they are using reputable, licensed and legitimate outlets for the disposal of their waste".
