Sarah Everard Inquiry report: 'Don't allow this report to gather dust'

Lady Elish Angiolini, who led the inquiry into the death of Sarah Everard, has called for her report to not be allowed to 'collect dust' and ensure police officers don't use their powers to exploit again.

Sarah Everard was abducted, raped and murdered by off-duty police officer Wayne Couzens in 2021.

"I was shocked at the extent there had been inertia and failures to intercept his behaviours.

"It's absolutely critical now that the recommendations that I have made are implemented to ensure that there won't be another Wayne Couzens", she added.

Angiolini said how she wants her report to not "gather dust" and that she hopes this can mark a change in behaviours in the police force.

"It's absolutely important that we root these people out so that good police officers are not being tarnished with the brush of those who fail", she finished.
