Pragnya Mohan is aiming to become the first Indian triathlete to compete at the Olympics
India’s Pragnya Mohan is aiming to make history by becoming the first Indian triathlete to compete at an Olympic Games.
Mohan – who is a chartered accountant – competed in triathlon at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, has won national and South Asian titles in the sport and is the first and only Indian triathlete to compete at a Triathlon World Cup.
Now she’s got her sights set on more history at Paris 2024, but more than that she hopes her achievements will encourage Indian girls to take up the sport professionally.
She tells Sportshour’s Caroline Barker about the challenges she’d had to overcome and how a project she’s created is giving female students access to bikes. and her commitment to environmental issues. Pragnya is an advocate on the environment and is part of the EcoAthletes collective, a non-profit that inspires and coaches athletes to lead climate action.
