Danny Danon: 鈥淔inish the job鈥� against Hamas
Former ambassador to UN says Israel must go into Rafah to finish the war
Israeli politician Danny Danon has told the 麻豆官网首页入口 that Israel must 鈥榝inish the job鈥� against Hamas, which he said has 鈥榙ragged鈥� on too long.
Speaking on HARDtalk, the country鈥檚 former ambassador to the United Nations said that 鈥榖y now鈥e should have finished the job, we should have entered Rafah鈥�.
The Likud politician and member of the country鈥檚 Knesset said one of the reasons the war is still ongoing six months after Hamas鈥檚 October 7 attack on southern Israel which killed about 1,200 people, was 鈥榖ecause we listened to the international community who asked us to slow down鈥�.
Challenged by Stephen Sackur on the number of people killed during Israel鈥檚 offensive in Gaza since the attack 鈥� more than 33,000 according to the Hamas-run health ministry 鈥� Mr Danon, an ally of Prime Minister Netanyahu, said 鈥榯he death toll is on the shoulders of Hamas鈥� which had 鈥榬estarted the war on October 7鈥e had a ceasefire before that鈥�.
Speaking from Jerusalem, Mr Danon said Israel must eliminate Hamas from Gaza. 鈥極nce we started the war, we have to finish the war, and that鈥檚 what I expect from my government; to go into Rafah, to finish the job鈥�. He claimed this would 鈥榓llow a better future for the people who live in Gaza鈥or the future of Gaza we should work faster, finish Hamas and allow a new future for Gaza鈥�.
