Josh Baker 'could have played for England'
Warwickshire spin coach Shaftab Ahmad Khalid pays tribute to the 20-year-old, after working with the young spinner at England Under-19 level and at New Road with Worcestershire.
He told Malcolm Boyden how overwhelming the news was, first meeting the promising spinner at Malvern College. He says Josh could have played for England, and losing his presence in the dressing room would be 'a hard pill to swallow'.
Josh played at clubs across the West Midlands including Astwood Bank and Kenilworth Wardens, before signing his professional contract at Worcestershire in 2021.
In a statement, Worcestershire County Cricket Club said "it was his vibrant spirit and infectious enthusiasm that endeared him to everyone he met. His warmth, kindness, and professionalism were remarkable, making him a true credit to his family and a loved member of our team."
