'Much-loved' Worcestershire alpaca farm to close

Based between Worcester and Upton, the owners of Alpaca Meadows tea room and farm say they've been left with no choice but to close for good, after being hit with demands from Malvern Hills District Council's planning department.
These demands include carrying out an ecological survey, building a 120 metre road and installing an electric car charging point - something owners Clive and Tricia Stapleton say they just can't afford.
Alpaca Meadows is a popular attraction with a cafe, a fishery, goats, donkeys and, of course, alpacas. Our reporter Charlotte Broadbent went to meet Clive, shortly after making their announcement, saying that "it has been an absolute honour to serve and bake" for their visitors.
Ian Macleod, Director of Planning and Infrastructure at Malvern Hills District Council, said: 鈥淲e have been made aware that Alpaca Meadows and Caf茅 will cease commercial activities on 15 June 2024. We will be making contact with the business and we welcome further discussions with them and the Highways Department at Worcestershire County Council to explore the options available鈥.
