Argentina win a record 16th Copa America

Argentina beat Colombia to win a record 16th Copa America and retain the title.

Argentina beat Colombia to win a record 16th Copa America, thanks to Lautaro Martinez’s goal eight minutes from the end of extra-time.

The game was marred by the kick-off being delayed by 80 minutes because of trouble outside the ground in Miami, but on the pitch Argentinian journalist Nicolas Rotnitzky tells Sport Today’s Mani Djazmi it was the experience and squad depth which helped Argentina win another title.

Argentina are now ahead of Uruguay as the most successful nation in the competition's history with 16 titles, one ahead of Uruguay.

Rotnitzky also reflects on the international careers of Angel Di Maria and Nicolas Otamendi and whether Lionel Messi – who was substituted in the final due to an injury – will represent Argentina at the 2026 World Cup.
