Boxing at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games has been overshadowed by a row about the eligibility of two boxers in the women’s competition.

Algeria’s Imane Khelif and Taiwan’s Lin Yu-ting are guaranteed at least bronze medals, but they were disqualified from the 2023 World Championships.

The International Boxing Association (IBA) – the governing body that oversaw the World Championships – says both boxers failed gender eligibility tests.

In June 2023, the IOC stripped the IBA of its status as the sport’s world governing body over concerns over how it was run.
