Three Palestinian Films have made it onto the preliminary shortlists for the 2025 Oscars in what could be a significant moment for Palestinian filmmakers.

'From Ground Zero' is an anthology of 22 short films from Gaza and has been shortlisted for Best International Feature. 'No Other Land' is a documentary by an Israeli-Palestinian collective of filmmakers and set in the Occupied West Bank, while 'An Orange from Jaffa' is a short drama telling the story of a Palestinian looking for a taxi to go through a checkpoint.

The final nominations for the Academy Awards are announced on January 19. Tom Brook has more for Talking Movies.
