A peaceful walk in the grounds of St Matthias Churchyard turned into a nightmare for Jan Marriott and her beloved rescue dog, Laika.

They were viciously attacked by another dog, leaving Jan with serious injuries and Laika so badly hurt that she had to be put to sleep.

At the time, Jan was caring for her son Andy's dog while he and his wife were on holiday in Mexico.
