Speaking to on his 5 Live podcast, alongside Adrian Chiles, Martin said that there were already savings to be made now 鈥� but with the energy price cap expected to rise in April, it鈥檚 unlikely that consumers who fixed at the best rates now would lose out later in the year.

鈥淭he cheapest fix available right now, if you take everything into account, is 7% cheaper than the current price cap,鈥� he said, before adding, 鈥測ou would need a really big, seismic shifts in worldwide wholesale rates 鈥� probably we鈥檙e talking sort of world recession-type levels, before it鈥檚 going to get that much cheaper that the fixes you鈥檙e seeing.鈥�
