In 1974, the composer and producer was coming to terms with the enormous success of his debut album, Tubular Bells, which shot to number one after it became used in the opening of big screen sensation, The Exorcist.
Mike could have done anything at this point, so he did, and disappeared to the Welsh Borders.
From his new digs in Herefordshire, he had a huge recording studio constructed, after pushing a grand piano up the hill, for Hergest Ridge, the record named after the nearby hills. The 21-year-old would often welcome family members and would play at the local inn, Penrhos Court.
