The brief life of William Shakespeare's son Hamnet is now quite well known, thanks to Maggie O'Farrell's novel, but Hamnet also had a twin sister Judith, who outlived her brother by many decades.
Judith lived through a time of chaos and conflict when cavaliers clashed with roundheads and religious fervour threatened to tear the kingdom apart. Professor Grace Tiffany - whose new book imagines the life of Shakespeare's daughter - joins Professor Suzannah Lipscomb to talk about themes in Judith's life that resonate deeply with our world today, from religious extremism to the challenges faced by women in male-dominated professions.
