In the next few weeks, the US private space venture, Blue Origin, is set to launch its next mission.

This time with an all-female crew.

This is the first time an all-female crew has travelled to space since the Soviet Union's Valentina Tereshkova's solo mission in 1963.

Blue Origin was founded by Amazon billionaire Jeff Bezoz and among the group of women taking part are his fianc茅e Lauren Sanchez. Also aboard will be film producer Kerianne Flynn, news presenter Gayle King, civil rights activist Amanda Nguyen, global pop icon Katy Perry, and former NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe.

Aisha will be going out there to conduct scientific research for a historically black college, called Winston-Salem. She will be going out there to look at plant genetics, and will explore how plants grow in space.

Aisha is extremely excited about her oppertunity to go to space, she told Newsday "To be able to be here, to emphasise that dreams are real, and that you can reach, and you can dream, and you can achieve, and you can be unafraid to pursue that bold big dream that scares you, is really an honour".

She explained that an all-female crew mission like the one she is on, can encourage young girls to feel inspired to want to pursue STEM subjects at school.
