Stories of life in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria; the Rohingya settlements of India; Somalian youth aspiring to sporting glory in Europe and Italy's ice cream parlours

Pascale Harter introduces analysis, wit and reportage from correspondents and writers around the world. In this edition:

Aleem Maqbool spent a week on Puerto Rico with survivors of Hurricane Maria, and found not just a new rhythm of life without electricity, but growing questions about the island's relationship with the mainland USA.

As tens of thousands of Rohingya people continue to stream into Bangladesh from Myanmar, Melissa van der Klugt explores a Rohingya settlement which has been hanging on near Delhi, in India, for several years now. But as India threatens to expel the Rohingya refugees it has taken in, how much longer can it last?

Many young people in Somalia are desperate to leave - to pursue education abroad, or secure their careers, or help support family back home. They have big dreams. But on a recent visit to Mogadishu, Yasmin Ahmed met some young men with even higher aspirations - to football fame in Europe's big leagues. Despite the risks, they have their hearts set on making the dangerous journey via Sudan and the Mediterranean Sea.

And as another gelato season draws to a close in the famously food-focused city of Bologna, Dany Mitzman reflects on what makes Italian ice cream so special - and the unwritten rules of how best to enjoy it.
