Your Global Gathering

Global Gathering

Ever been to Global Gathering? Or any other big dance festivals for that matter?

On the 29th July we're off to get our bosh on for two whole days.

Which DJs will keep us up past our bed time? Should we bring our fluffy boots this year?

Have you got any funny or, even better, disastrous stories from your 'ooh-i-feel-a-little-bit-wonky' adventures in lazer land?

Either way we want to hear what you got up to last time you were there so we can plan our trip.

Our lovely map of Europe

CommentThis is what you're saying...

I would just like to say that with the amount of people there, things went very well. The dance sence is a credit to it self. Also the Drum & Base on satarday night was off the hook. Fabio & Grooverider are still all time number one and that department. Blue Hat
Rink from Telford

met some great people in VIP, HEY STEW!!! nutter, also on the Friday met a two great girls from Swansea!!! we rocked the VIP that night, Best GG ever im there in 2007
Andy From Battersea, London

2006 was my 2nd time @ GG and I'm counting down the days until next year. What a festival with an amazing atmosphere with the best dj's in the world. Godskitchen and the Radio1 beach stage was the best. C ya next year.
Lisa N.Ireland

Amazing. Oakenfold in the Godskitchen tent was like nothing id ever experienced before...bring on next year!!
Faye

What can i say, my first yr at Global Gathering and it was awsome.. definately goin again nxt yr, prob the best dance festival i've been 2. If any1 remembers the 3 people on the shoulder lift at the beach stage, that was me on my mates shoulders and my mate on my brothers shoulders.. every1 was loving it.. i was so high up could see everyone avin a good time!! The Gods kitchen tent was truely amazin and massive I spent most of the night in there stompin to Paul Oakenfold and Paul Van Dyke, what a night, my memories will stay wiv me 4ever... cant wait till 2007! If u have never been... get ur ticket for nxt yr, u wont be disapointed!
Kellie from Devon

First time for me 2! Went for the whole weekend and it was absolute quality! I've been to Ibiza e.t.c but i've never seen anything like it. Daft Punk, Lisa Lashes and Carl Cox my favs. Awesome! Ps:Taking my own toilet and shower next time....
Andy from Oxford

Wow... It my first time at Global Gathering, and I cant wait until next year! Daft Punk was out of this world, along with many other DJ's. Hixxy and MC Storm were brilliant as well. After all the dancing, the only problem I had was trying to find my tent, and with the amount of campers, at one point when it was dark, I spent an hour and half walking round, mainly in circles looking for it! Even the bit of rain we had was good. Massive thimbs up from me :)
roadruna, from dorset

It's always the big surprises that get me Digitalism, Erol Elkan. Then the likes of Erick Morillo, John Digweed, Armin van Buuren but the big showstopper was Daft Punk what an amazing set and the lighting took everyone's breath away. Disapointment with no Paul Van Dyk though and missing Deep Dish :-( But the event was spoilt with the mindless yobbo's that seemed to prowl the site, nearly being mugged walking through the fairgrouns wasn't fun. Then to get back saturday night and the tent being broke into and badly damaged wasn't the best end thats after our chairs went missing on the friday :-( We weren't the only ones either!! But for the rest of the peeps amazing people great music!! But just how good were Daft Punk?? zip unzip it Tech-no-logic, tech-no-logic....
Jordan from Nottingham

As always, GG 06 was out of this world! Fatboy is the main man for sure! Pete Tong, Daft Punk and my all time faves Plump DJ'S were also fab. Fatboy played out some banging tunes on his beach set and as the rain started coming down, out came the fireworks to top off the set of the weekend! Missed out on the 3D glasses but word around the campsite on the Sunday morning was - 'they rocked'. After Fatboys amzing set we paddeled over to the Carl Cox tent and funked out to Alloy Mental who definately deserve a mention! Oh and who can forget the Silent Disco - what a laugh! GG 06, what a memory - shame it had to end so soon! met some wicked people and looking forward to next year already!
Kerry D, Norwich

This was my 5th year at Global and my first year camping - was not loving the portaloos! But was loving the music and the atmosphere and the fact that the rain stayed off til saturday night. Most enjoyable sets: Groove Armada, Tiesto, Fat Boy Slim, Pendulum, Judge Jules and Tidy Boys. Top raving sesh, legs still aching now. Can't wait for next year.
Frances from Nottingham

Was my first yr at Global. It was ACE! Absoloutley fantastic! I can't decide which bit I loved the most - all of it was class! Met some wicked random people - can't remember what was said but I know I was smiling! Fatboy and Daft Punk were fantastic! Roll on next yr!!
Sarah, from Birmingham

wicked weekend. friday was fantastic but saturday was out of this world. see u next year!!!
sherrie from leicester

Went last year and thought GG was awesome, but this year was just something else all together. The line up was amazing, Daft Punk were great, but Fatboy Slim was by far the best act this year. Bring on GG'07!!!!!
Tony from Oxford

My 1st global. Was V.lucky and went as part of Poi Poi to teach and sell Poi in the camping area (next to the cinema). Had an absolute blast. Still buzzin. Didn't get to see as much as I would like to have. However, I was workin and yet not working at the same time. Met some awesome people and managed to pass on the Poi torch to a few who listened. Otherwise was glad to just to further the artform. Thanks to all who showed their support to our camoflaged tent. It was a pleasure to supply the tunes 24hrs for ya'll. Must go now - think my cherry IS broken... Peace x
A-Dam

Hello to all my 60 minute best friends at the front of The fatboy set. Absolutely awesome! One of the best times of my life - perfect! hope you all enjoyed the breakaways....

Then on Sunday morning after being sleep for about half an hour one of the scottish guys bounced into our tent asking if we could make tuna sandwiches...WHAT?? haha good laugh. Fatboy slim was immense..fantastic...amazin! and Daft Punk wasnt too far behind! can't wait till nexy year!
Charlie from Gloucester

What can i say, my 1st Global Gathering experience and oh my god what an experience. I spemt most of my time in Carl Cox's tent the Techno took my head off. Roll on next yeat!!
Manoj from Birmingham

2006 was my 5th visit to Global. Fatboy Slim was kicking, what a mix. Excellent atmosphere as usual. Highly recommended. In recovery now. Body feeling like it has has a hard workout. Fab tunes all night long. Looking forward to 2007 !!
Nicky from Wellingborough

Global G is the big boss of all festivals! Thee most vast array of dj talent anywhere in the world. With all tastes of music, there really is no better event for bringing the world of dance music together. Its like Ibiza, Majorca and Napa rolled into one. A big thanks to Radio 1 and godskitchen for such an amazing event, how 2007 can be any better who knows? But one thing is for sure, i'll be there in the thick of it again! :-)
WOODSY from cleethorpes

Although the music was good, the rest of the festival was very commercial with high prices for food and drink. If you bought drinks in the camping zone security stopped you bringing it into the performance area, why? The organisation of security could have been better, cars were getting broken into by people going tooled up to do so, the people camping next to us had their car locks drilled out and their stuff stolen. When you pay over 拢100 for a camping ticket and can't pitch next to your car you'd expect the parking to be properly patrolled 24 hours. Toliets as always needed to be cleaned more often, ones in the camping area were ok, but the performance arena was very bad! It took over an hour to exit the site by car on Sunday; workmen had already removed the row signage from the carpark although most people hadn't got back to their cars, this made them very hard to find. People we met were great, although the idea of having paid for (extra 拢50 per person) VIP benefits goes against the whole ethos of dance music culture.
Lionel

Global was WICKED!!! Roll on nest year, BOO Jungle......
Christian From Luton Town

Norman Cook dropping born slippy in as the fireworks went off at the beach stage - just as the rain began to come down - awesome
BJ

Just got back from what was a carnival of carnage! Global Gathering 2006. What an amazing day/night yet again. This year saw my 3rd GG and it was great. The radio 1 outdoor stage was magnificent Erick Morillo, Audio Bullys and Fatboy slim all played great sets, a real memorable moment for me was when 2 bi-planes complete with wingwalkers flew over the crowd and did loop the loops while the Audio Bully's were mashing up the MASSIVE outdoor sound system. Some say when the wind blows in the right direction you could hear the Music in China!! Great night!!!!!
Tom EQ

went to the saturday this year and it was awesome, morillo rocked it,above and beyond were great openers and armin van buren is the man
Alan from essex

Daft Puuk are complete legends. No other act came remotely close to them. Amazing.
Ian from Coventry

Wicked, abolutely FAB. I was a Global Gathering Virgin till yesterday and its the best thing i've done. The whole event was out of this world. Every single tent had be buzzing, i just didnt want to hang my dancing shoes up this morning. The DJ's were spot on, the other ravers were like me just there for a wicked time which was delivered by Global Gathering. Thanks
Neil from Luton

Been at Global this weekend, highlight for me has to be Daft Punk they are amazing i was blown away. I wonder if the inside of their helmets was sweaty?

You lucky people who are going, was supposed to be going but mate pulled out at last minute, was getting quite a buzz from the thought of going, the pictures and stories from last year look mental. Have to prepare for 2007 instead. Have fun you lucky lucky people =(
Matt, Leeds

Was at global last year & year before, it's the dance venue that will blow your mind! All the DJ's wear wicked especially the likes of Pete tong, judge Jules, James zabiela, Sasha, hernan cattaneo, fat boy slim & many others. The godskitchen tent was out of this world & the atmosphere was fantastic!!
Johnny Lincoln

what can i say this is the best event of the year by a clear laser mile!! bring it on PVD and Tiesto. last year was top but 2006 is gonna rocks the beach off the last one!! come on see ya there guys!! HAPPY DAYS
Jama, Cheltenham

Global is awesome, the tunes, line up and production is excellent. The only downfall is the Chavs, attitudes of the minority and the robberies in the camping area.LEave your valuables at home!!!
Steve, Leeds

Myself and 3 of my mates went to GG last year for the 1st time and i lurved it. The Radio 1 Outdoor Stage really did create a wicked atmosphere and put us all in high spirits for the whole of Saturdays events...Sooo back again this year and cant wait to cut some shapes and go mental....watch this space!!!
Gary Stuart

Mobiles are not the most reliable form of communication so walkie talkies are a sound idea. I went the other year and had an awesome time.
Jayjear

Went last year for 1st time, only Saturday, not up for camping! Wicked event, Godskitchen and Polysexual were both bangin last year! Glad to see they have free water available this year. See you all this weekend at Global Gathering 2006!!!!
Stu from Swindon

Last year rocked, Tiesto on the beach made my weekend, nothing better than sun, sand and sweet sweet music! Not going this year so make the most of it people, Daft Punk will be amazing
Squiddles in Banbury

Lost my global gathering cherry last year, what can i say its amazing. and from people i spoke to it just gets better every year. only piece of advice, get into tents early as when we went to watch paul van dyk last year, the tent was bursting at the seams, no chance of getting in. Catch you soon
Nathan - Cardiff

My 2 best friends got engaged at Global last year, right on the beach. Was lovely. So this year we are all going back as a little anniversary. Oh and cos it's a fabulous weekend. Love it!
Linz

if your considering going at all you must must must go, you will not regret it. its not a rave, a rave is in one or two rooms with 3 good djs. global is like DANCE WORLD, thousands of people, hundreds of the finest djs from all the sub genres, and an atmosphere like nothing youve ever experienced.. listen to the people on this page because weve all experienced it first hand..its everything you anticipate and more..
dave

Well what can I say, GLOBAL GATHERING is here again. I've been every year and it continues to get bigger and better. The place to be this year is the GODS tent for the god himself Paul Van Dyk, then you have got to get your bosh on in the POLYSEXUAL tent with the Tidy Boys and Co! I'll see all 49,999 of you down the front!!!
Craig from Hull

Went last year as crew with the Eye Candy dances ended up by the RADIO 1 beech party and was loving it !! Its a pity its not a weekly event
Wil

Been every year, bit of advice, set off early because when you get near the site you might be looking at a 2 hour traffic jam. But its well worth it.
Marc Wilkinson

I went to global on the saturday for the very first last year, and had a wicked time from when i get there, got photos done from the day about 4 hours after i got home. It was mad to look at them and know i was just there. TIP - take a camera, take loads of pictures. It will give you goosebumps when you look at them after the event, even a year down the line. x
Claire from Redditch

Me and my mates are going for the first time this years. We went to Ibiza last year and to Homelands the years before. If it knocks the socks of them then we will definately be making a full weekend of 2007! Cant wait to see Fatboy Slim, Erik Morillo and also the Polysexual tent! Slinky ravers wear sunglasses @ night!
Gareth from Bournemouth!

went last year out of this world, saw pendulum so i was happy!!
ash, bpool

Global Gathering is just the best festival EVERY... We have been every year, just wish they had kept it Saturday afternoon until Sunday morning. When youve been clubbing for as long as us & dont do camping its just too long. So unfortunatly were not going this year :-( ... every one who goes will have the best time - RAVE SAFE KIDS ;-)
Anna

Donny from Slough

The Beach stage last year, the sand between my toes, jumping up and down with the thousands of people, i'm sure I could feel the ground bouncing! Jules banging out some amazing tunes, the bi-planes doing the loops the loops above us with the wing walkers on top, there with my best mate, the warm summer sun going down, everyone happy, who needs ibiza!
Neil From Ellesmere Port
