Les Dawson's Women 24 Dec 2007
Les Dawson
The great Lancashire comedian, famous for his skilfully inept piano playing and endless jibes at the mother-in-law, died of a heart attack in 1993. Millions revelled in the world-weariness honed by years of playing the working men’s clubs, and laughed at his gentle mockery of stout Northern Women. Now his widow Tracey has put together “Les Dawson’s Secret Notebooks”, which show how seriously he took the art of writing.Tracey joins Jane Garvey in the studio along withBarry Cryer, who wrote some of Les Dawson’s material.
