Erinma Bell & Gordon Brown
Challenging gun culture in Moss Side

This year Erinma Bell found herself catapaulted into the spotlight when Gordon Brown featured her in his book Everyday Heroes. The prime minister said, “For me, Erinma is one of Britain's everyday heroes: the men and women who are quietly changing lives across our nation.” Brown had been struck by the voluntary work Erinma had been doing in Manchester’s Moss Side. And in a year dominated by news of gun killings amongst Britain’s youth - Erinma’s work as chairwoman of Carisma – a local organisation challenging gang culture - shone out as a positive response to the tragic deaths that regularly made the headlines during 2007. She joins Jenni in the studio.
