Older Carers 08 Jan 2008
Facing retirement while caring for a parent

It is estimated that 1.5 million people over the age of 60 are carers in Britain. Many have spent years bringing up children only to find, as their children grow up and retirement approaches, that they have to start looking after an elderly parent. What specific problems do older carers face and what can be done to support them? Jenni is joined by Jane Burt, Assistant Director of The Princess Royal Trust for Carers and by Christine Ransome-Wallis, who is retired and looks after her 89 year old mother.
