Rumer Godden
AÌýpersonal view of this prolific writer

Rumer Godden wrote novels, children stories, poetry, non-fiction and saw many of her works adapted for film and television. Godden was born in England but moved to India with her family when she was less than a year old. Thereafter she always felt caught between the two cultures and the outsider was a theme that she returned to again and again. Godden died in 1998 and a decade on in what would have been her centenary year, her legacy as a writer is being reassessed
