Kings and aristocrats often ‘kept’ their other woman in special residences – houses or living quarters of their own. The subject of one of the 'History Girls' Tracy Borman's recent book, Henrietta Howard, lived in Marble Hill House, a Palladian villa built in 1724 on the banks of the Thames in Twickenham.
