The British Government maintains that women鈥檚 rights have improved in Afghanistan since the fall of the Taliban, although there is still much to be done. Twenty-five per cent of members of the Afghan parliament are women, yet maternal mortality and female illiteracy rates are among the highest in the world. A delegation of British Muslims has just returned from Afghanistan where it met with political and religious leaders to see what progress has been made in the fledging democracy. Jenni talks to Yasmin Qureshi, a lawyer who was part of the British Muslim delegation, and to Kathryn Lockett, South Asia Programme Manager at Womankind Worldwide.
