The writer Christopher Rush was born in St Monans in Fife in 1944. For the first 5 years of his life he lived in the house of his foreboding and embittered old Aunt Epp. So when he discovered a collection of her writings that had been preserved by his mother, he was surprised to uncover a gentler, intelligent and thoughtful woman with a gift for prose and a view on worldly issues. Christopher tells Jenni Murray about why he published Aunt Epp’s writings and about her views on subjects as diverse as Charles Darwin’s Origin of the Species, her cures for common ailments, her recipes, some handy household hints using your own urine, and her surprisingly frank views on sex.Ìý
