Ìý Eleni Karaindrou Wednesday 3 April 2002 Ìý
Greek composer, Eleni Karaindrou's fascination with film music began when she was a child. Her family home in Athens was next to an open air cinema. This, along with the piano, were the two central passions of her life by the age of eight.

Nowadays, she is well-known as the composer of the music for the award winning film, Eternity and a Day.
But she has recently moved into composition for the theatre, having written the music for a production of Euripedes play, Trojan Women, directed by her husband. With its contemporary themes of genocide, exile and the injustices suffered by women, Eleni tells Jenni how the conflict in Bosnia inspired her to write the music.
