Ìý Black Women & The Menopause Friday 21 June 2002 Ìý
HRT is a subject guaranteed to provoke a flood of letters and E mails but research in the States suggests that while almost all of us experience the symptoms, (hot flushes, tension and tiredness) our view of the menopause varies according to our cultural background and black women appeared to be the most positive of all.

This also seems to be the case here in Britain, one survey carried out in south London found that women of African and Caribeean origin were less likely to use HRT than white women.
Connie St Louis spoke to a number of black women to find out more about their experiences of the menopause, including health writer Melba Wilson.
