If there's a serious allegation against the police, who should investigate? From next week a whole new system comes into being in England and Wales.
The Independent Police Complaints Commission will have the powers to investigate serious complaints against the police. In the past one force would be asked to examine another.
The Chief Executive of the new body which replaces the Police Complaints Authority on April 1st is Susan Atkins. A legal expert, she has worked for the Equal Opportunities Commission and the Home Office. Her last job was director of the government's Women and Equality Unit.
She joins Martha to talk about her career and her hopes for the IPCC.
