When the human rights lawyer Shirin Ebadi won the Nobel Peace Prize last year, many in the West felt it signalled a new era for women’s rights in Iran. But with the recent arrest of a leading feminist journalist, Mahboubeh Abbas-Gholizadeh, that confidence has been shaken.
Jenni talks to Haleh Afshar, the Iranian-born Professor Of Politics at York University to find out why international women’s groups fear their activists are again being targeted by the Iranian government.
